Wellington 9 April 1872
Sir,
I have been requested by Dr Hector, who was obliged to leave here rather suddenly
for Nelson a few days ago, to inform you that a parcel of Chatham Isd plants has been
forwarded to you this day by the s.s. "Albion".
This is a part of a large miscellaneous collection obtained at the Chatham Islds by
Mr H Travers & purchased from him for this Museum. Dr Hector desired me to say that
a further collection will be sent you [with] algae, lichens mosses &c as soon as they are sorted. A number is attached to each
specimen in the hope that you will kindly furnish the names in order that they may
be put on the duplicate specimens kept here which have been numbered in the same manner
as those sent to you. The collection will be then of practical value to our Museum.
