Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Acclimatization (sic) society of Auckland', California farmer and journal of useful sciences, 6 June 1872, p. 165. It is dated to late April as the latest that it could have been sent to have been reported in this issue of the newspaper.

The annual meeting of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society was held on 13 March 1872 (Daily southern cross [Auckland, NZ], 20 March 1872, p. 3.
The doings of this Society are of great scientific interest, in another column will be found some extracts showing the results of the Society. It will be seen that California is planting seed there and thus uniting the two countries.

Extracts were published in 'The acclimatisation society at Auckland', California farmer and journal of useful sciences, 6 June 1872, p. 162, noting under 'sericulture' that supplies of the 'best varieties of mulberry seed' had been received from California. M had evidently sent a longer report than the version printed in the Daily southern cross, which does not contain the text published in the article.
