Mit dem Dampfschiff "Northumberland", sehr verehrter Herr Professor, habe ich eine Kiste mit Pflanzen für Sie an Mess. C. Blackith & Co abgesandt. Die Fracht bis London ist berichtigt. Es ist nur der erste Theil einer Gegengabe für Ihre schöne Sammlungen, welche viel mehr werth sind als das Ihnen bis jetzt Gesandt. Es ist aber besser, dass ich diesen Theil absende, ehe die eintretende Jahreszeit erst weitere Museum Arbeiten unterbricht. Ich bin auch nicht ganz wohl gewesen, sonst hätte ich mehr für Sie schon diesmal hervorgesucht.

Unter den ungepressten Algen könnten Sie manches Schöne u Selten zum heraus präpariren finden. Sagen Sie mir freundlichst ob solche Algen Ihnen lieb sind.

Für Ihren Nachbarn Hr Prof. Ed. Morren sende ich auch Einiges in Ihrer Kiste, dass ich ihm zuzustellen bitte.

Your collection contains about 400 species (in about 600 specimens) irrespective of Algae. I also send the sixth & seventh volumes of my fragmenta.

On the steamship "Northumberland", highly respected Professor, I have sent a box with plants for you, to Messrs C. Blackith & Co. The freight to London is paid. This is only the first part of a gift in return for your fine collections, which are worth much more that that sent to you up to now. However it is better that I send off this part before the incoming season interrupts further Museum work. I have also not been quite well, otherwise I would already have looked out more for you this time.

Among the unpressed algae you could find many fine and rare things to prepare out. Kindly tell me whether such algae are agreeable to you.

I am also sending some things in your box for your neighbor Professor Eduard Morren that I ask to be delivered to him.
