Accept, dear Prof. Lindberg, my best felicitation for the new year, and let me hope that it will be to you a joyous one! It was with much sadness, that I heard of your protracted illness and the calamitous accident, which befel you. Let me hope, that you have now fully recovered, and that you may thus resume the important bryologic labours, which have rendered you already so illustrious

you must excuse me for not writing at length.
Do not consider yourself under any obligation to me, as long as you will kindly revise the mosses and send me a typical set from the different localities back. Should you have duplicates of any Russian, Swedish or Artic

mosses, they will from your hand be lastingly welcome. But do not trouble unless you happen to have them ready.
I never got the two letters to which you refer. Their loss will explain my repeated enquiries. If the mosses had been lost or gone astray, I should be blamed by the authorities here. I have neither received any prints yet about the Australian Mosses examined by you.

I will get ready for your bot Garden a collection of Australian seeds during this autumn. The harvest of seeds is just commencing.

Your best way is to send via Lübeck anything for me to Dr Sonder in Hamburg.
