Sir,
I have the honor to transmit herewith for any observations you may desire to offer
a copy of a despatch received by His Excellency from the Secretary of State
on the subject of a suggestion for a continued interchange of the valuable vegetable
production of the British Colonies and Possessions.

M's copy of despatch not found. A circular despatch dated 2 September 1871 was issued by the Earl of Kimberley, Secretary of State for the Colonies, enclosing a letter 'from the India Office relative to a suggestion made by the Lieutenant-Governor
of British Honduras, that a continued interchange should take place of the valuable
vegetable production of the British Colonies and Possessions'. A memorandum 'from the Superintendent of the Royal Botanical Gardens at Calcutta, [that]
