Melbourne Botanic Garden
31st October 1871
Sir
I have the honor to inform you, that I have received from the daughter of the late Mr. Dallachy an account for expenses, incurred by the latter while collecting for the Melbourne Botanic Garden and Museum in the vicinity of Rockingham Bay.

Qld.
The accounts are dated from the past financial year. As however the vote for incidental Expenses of the Botanic Garden for that year is exhausted, I have the honor to solicit, that you will be pleased to grant a transfer of the sum of £6.8/5d. from the unexpended balance of the votes for Wages, now under authority No 27, to the vote for Incidental Expenses, and that you will permit me to pass the accounts to the Treasury for payment.

An annotation indicates that the transfer was put through on 7 November.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your obedient servant
Ferd. von Mueller,
Director Botanic Gardens
The Honorable the Chief Secretary
