Letter not found. The text given here is from the California horticulturist and floral magazine, vol. 2, December 1871, p. 30. In other notices in the journal the name of the Society is given as Bay Area Horticultural Society. The letter is dated to October as the latest likely date it could have been written for it to be reported in this issue of the journal.
