Melbourne bot. Garden
20/9/71
At last, dear Mr Fletcher, I redeem my promise of sending for your Municipal Institution's
Garden the greenhouse plants desired by you.
The sending was not deferred from inattention, but because the very reduced means
of my department and other difficulties rendered it since two years quite impossible
to carry out even all the
urgent
work. Hence anything not of absolute urgency had to stand over.

Neither the 'promise' nor a list of desired plants has been found. The file includes
a note: 'Mr Mallach | Acknowledge with thanks | GAF | Baron Ferd. Von Mueller'.
If your Council has it in its power to send me a truck full of white Quartz in large
pieces I should feel very grateful.
With best regards
Baron Ferd von Mueller
