I think the Diprotodons of which you ask were probably contemporaneous with the present vegetation because the Dingoe was contemporaneous with them. I am greatly grieved at the delay in paying Maxwell but you know the great misfortune which has befallen the Museum in letting the Trustees of the Public Library impound the money voted for it, and I am quite ashamed that the old grudge of the Library to the Museum has been gratified at the expense of the poor people who have supplied goods & labor to the Museum during the last 6 months. I expect to have it in a week and would be glad of £10 worth more of additional specimens of Quadrupeds, Birds or Reptiles especially the former.
