Memorandum, conveying in a few words my views on the ascent of the Ker Ranges. It
might be accomplished at a
trifling expense by land
from Cashmere Police station, thus not requiring subsidies from here. It would be
important for
geographic
purposes,
geologic
and
mineralogic
exploration; it would certainly open new resources to Queensland, and would give the
collector of the botanic Garden a favorable line for operations. My views in detail
explained in the letter.

McCulloch minuted on this memorandum: 'If the proposed expedition is for the benefit of Queensland — certainly
it will not be of any […] to this Colony — It will no doubt be undertaken by that Colony — in any case no portion
of such expenditure will be borne by Victoria'.
