Melbourne botanic Garden
6/4/71.
Sir
In reply to your letter 1167
I have the honor to inform you, that I have yesterday submitted an estimate of the
expenditure for public works of the botanic Garden during 1871-1872 to the hon. the
Commissioner of public works,
having merely hesitated to prepare the new estimates, until I knew whether the requisitions
for the current half year were likely to receive the approval of the hon. the Chief
Secretary. My new estimates are based on the supposition, that Sir Jam. McCulloch
will be pleased to grant the various approvals, except that for the large tank.
