Letter not found. The text given here is from a report of the meeting of the Bay District Horticultural Society, California, held on 10 June 1871 (California horticulturist and floral magazine, vol. 1, p. 247). The letter is dated to April as the latest likely date that it could have been sent to have been read at that meeting.
The report continues: 'Dr. Mueller is untiring in his efforts to help the cause of Horticulture, and great credit is due him for the introduction and cultivation of many valuable plants.'
[A letter was read from F. Von Mueller of the Botanical Gardens, Melbourne, in which this gentleman informed the Society, that he had sent for distribution a quantity of tree and plant seeds.]
