The commonality of subject-matter with M to M. Guilfoyle, 15 May 1871, makes it likely that this letter, too, was addressed to Michael Guilfoyle rather than to his son William.

a few fragments in a letter will be sufficient for my purpose of examining, though a good supply of dried specimens of so rare a plant for museum interchanges will be extremely welcome.
Is it always a small shrub?
Should you come across Macarthuria Neo-Cambrica, I hope you will also secure a good supply for Museum-purposes. Pray send as early as you can any plants you may have ready, as I may utilize some for the next number of the Fragmenta,
