I have the honor to solicit, that you will be pleased to issue an authority of expenditure for the sum of £47.10. — for wages to gardeners etc., as granted on the Supplementary Estimates for 1870 for this Department, Division No 12 Sub Div. No 2 —, and place the same at my disposal for disbursement.

William Odgers noted on the file: 'Wages for Decr. Schedule'. M had been in discussion about the amount of money needed to pay December wages; see M to J. McCulloch, November 1870 (in this edition as 10-11-00b) and notes thereto. The amount was approved by Parliament on 20 December 1870 (Victoria. Votes and proceedings of the Legislative Assembly, second session, 1870, vol. 1, p. 121).
