Melbourne botan. Garden
17/11/70
Sir
I have the honor to enquire, whether it is permitted to obtain some tea tree at the
lower Yarra, and if so, whether I can have a few loads cut for shading in the garden.
1
On 19 November 1870 Hodgkinson recommended: 'that the Govt Botanist be allowed to
take six loads of tea tree from the north Bank of the Yarra below the Melbourne Gas
Works'. The Board of Land and Works approved this recommendation on 30 November.
I have the honor to be,
Sir, your obedient servant
Ferd. von Mueller,
Director botan Garden
The Assistant Commissioner of Land & Survey
