Having learnt, that it is your intention to visit the botanic Garden in your ministerial position, I shall be glad, if you will kindly let me know as Director, at what day and what hour I shall await you, and on what gate I shall meet you, should you not come direct to my office.

McCulloch had visited the Garden on 21 October, apparently without seeing M (W. Odgers to M, 24 October 1870).
