The Chief Secretary requests that the Director of the Botanic Gardens will have the goodness to place Mr Ferguson in occupation of the cottage nearest to Anderson Street as early as possible.

William Ferguson had requested that he be assigned a cottage in the Botanic Gardens; see M to J. McCulloch, 18 August 1870 (in this edition as 70-08-18b). The cottage concerned was occupied by the gardener David Coller; see M to D. Coller, 29 December 1870.
