11/9/70.
Sir
In reference to my application for a transfer of several votes to the wages fund I have now the honor to solicit, that the following authorities of expenditure may be cancelled and as mentioned below be transferred.
1
M was dealing with a shortage in his wages fund because of a decrease in the relevant budget head compared to the previous year, from £3,680 to £2,691 (Victoria, Votes and proceedings of the Legislative Assembly, session 1869, vol. 1, p. 59 and session 1870, vol. 1, p. 86 respectively). In M to W. Odgers, 26 August 1870 and an accompanying memorandum addressed to the Chief Secretary, M proposed transfers between the subheads of expenditure. Odgers requested details of authorities that would have to be cancelled to effect the change. W. Odgers to M, 7 October 1870, confirmed that the changes had been made and provided new authority numbers.
