Fragment dated to early September 1870 on the basis of M to W. Guilfoyle, 15 September 1870, in which M's responds to a request from Guilfoyle for a specimen of 'the striped Cordyline' that had evidently been prompterd by the present letter.
The in nature must be a beautiful plant I have it not in the collection of the conservatory.
What I have here as a solitary striped plant is the N. Zealand , but not Cordyline (Charlwoodia) stricta, which is the slender plant so common on the Clarence River
