Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge your letters of the 27th July last
and to inform you that the Industrial and Technological Committee regret that they
are unable to advance any moneys for the purpose named in your letter.
With reference to the naming and labelling of woods, the Committee instruct me to
state that they are only desirous of seeing the English names attached wherever practicable,
and in expressing their opinion as a suggestion which may aid you in your labours,
leave the detailed arrangement of the specimens in your hands with the most complete
and unreserved confidence in your well-known scientific and artistic ability
I have the honor to be
Sir
Your most obedient Servant
Marcus Clarke
