Sir
I have the honor to inform you that at a meeting of the Trustees of the Royal Park
held yesterday, I submitted your letter of the 24th June,
in which you desire an interview with the Trustees to urge your former application
for occupation and fencing off some land in the Park for the use of the Hotham Cricket
Club. After renewed consideration my colleagues directed me to inform you that they
possessed no right and authority to alienate any land in the Park from their trust
and that they did not feel justified to recognize any claims arising from concessions
prior to their trusteeship if such claims from want of continuity had finally lapsed
