I have the honor to inform you, that I have delivered to your agent this day:
150 Italian Stone Pines and 150 Blue Gum trees, which, if planted alternately at 16 feet apart, will be found sufficient, to line both sides of the circular walk in the recreation-reserve of Stawell-township. In consulting your sketch of the ground, I thought it advisable to select the following trees in addition to be planted close to the fencelines.

Cupressus lindleyi? M's spelling is used in some texts, for example in A. Jackson (1915) where he notes that a Cupressus lusitanica var benthamii growing near Exeter 'was long known as '; see also Proceedings of the Royal Horticultural Society, vol. 3 (1863), p. 164, reporting that Messrs Henderson & Son exhibited Cupressus lindleyana alba.

Should your ground not be prepared for all these young trees (about 450) or should the Council not wish to plant the Blue Gum-plants, then please hand them at once out to any other of your local institutions in my name, in order that this public property may not be lost.
