M worked up this group, as Salsolaceae, in B69.06.03, pp. 8-15. He united Blitum with in his treatment of C. cristatum and C. atriplicinum on p. 11; he did not mention in his treatment of (p. 11); he maintained on p. 13, but it was united with by Bentham (1863-78), vol. 5, p 189. was not mentioned in his treatment of , pp. 8-10. In B57.09.04, pp. 74-5 he had however listed '( )' under leptocarpum, A. spongiosum and A. inflatum, possibly indicating that he considered these three species to be in the section of the genus. That view is consistent with his usage when listing Babbage's collection, in B59.03.01, where for example he uses ' incrassatum (Sect. .)' (p. 20). M united with in his treatment of H. mesembryanthema in B73.04.02, p. 38.
