The minute of the hon. the Chief Secretary, dated 23 May,
reached me on Queens Birthday. Gardener W. Smith has not made his appearance since,
though on a former similar occasion he came back on his own accord. I have given to
day orders to the Inspector of forests, that W. Smith is to be re-employed on former
terms in the Gov. House Reserve.
