If it is not possible, dear Mr Odgers, to get so many boys from the Industrial Establishment, could I not get at once about ten? After discharging all the youths here (except the one office boy) I have none to wash pots, wheel plants & soil, do weeding & endless other little jobs & easy work, which now encroaches sadly on the few upgrown people's work, now available here. Please do what you can to get me soon some aid.

On 18 May 1870 Odgers forwarded M's letter to the Inspector of Industrial Schools, George O. Duncan, 'who had perhaps better see Dr. Mueller'. [...] Neal replied on Duncan's behalf on 19 May: 'The boys will be down on Saturday and Dr Mueller has been so informed'.
