I have the honor to request you will be good enough to instruct Mr Ferguson,

William Ferguson.
Inspector of State Forests, to proceed to the site of Messr Anderson Brothers, Sawmills, in the Bullarook Forest,

At various times all of the six Anderson brothers from Ayreshire, Scotland were involved in saw-milling at Bullarook Forest and flour-milling at Smeaton, Vic. John (1822-1895), James (1824-1901) and William (1826-1886) arrived in South Australia in 1851 and moved to Victoria in 1852. David (1828-1877) and Thomas (1830-1858) who had died before this letter was written arrived in Victoria in 1854 with their brother Robert (1833-1921).
for the purpose of affording these gentlemen advice and assistance in planting trees in the vicinity or their Mills.
The Honorable the President of the Board of Land and Works having approved of Mr Ferguson being employed on this duty and Messr Anderson paying his expenses, these gentlemen have expressed their willingness so to do.
You will also be good enough to instruct Mr Ferguson, on his return to Melbourne, to call upon me with the view of inspecting some Murray Pines.
