My Dear Sir I returned from the mountains yesterday and having business in Town I
started to day and arrived just in time to send your small parcel by the Southern
Cross I think I got you what you required the seeds are very small you will find them
in an envelope. I shall be going on mount field next this next summer iff iff the
Lord spares me and allows me my health I have been there since I saw you.
iff I meet with any thing strange I will preserve it for you. I sent you some water
plants in the end of last summer. I left them with Dr Officer to forward to you but
I never heard iff you received them

M spent a week in Tasmania in January 1869 and while there climbed Mt Field East with
Rayner and his two brothers; see M to J. Hooker, 15 January 1869.
Dr Sir you must excuse this scral
for the Cross is nearly starting trusting this will find you enjoying Good health
as it leaves me at present I trust we may have another ramble some of those days and
believe me to remain yours truly
