I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of yours, requesting a set of the plants which may have arrived by the Gulnare from Arnheimsland.

Arnhem Land. By the time that M wrote this letter, Frederick (formerly Friedrich) Schultze, who was collecting in the north of the Northern Territory, had sent three consignments of natural history specimens, including plants: per Moonta, which left Darwin on 4 March 1869 and arrived in Adelaide on 24 April; per Gulnare, which left Darwin 0n 5 May and arrived in Adelaide on 6 June; and per Gulnar e on 28 September, which arrived in Adelaide on 15 November (Wallis (2020); SA newspapers shipping arrivals).
There was an earlier request for specimens per Gulnare in M to R. Schomburgk, 15 November 1869. It probably related to the consignment sent in September. An earlier set of plants from Schultze, probably including specimens from the first two consignments, had been acknowledged in M to R. Schomburgk, 8 August 1869, where M also complained of the poor quality of some specimens. See also R. Schomburgk to G. Bentham, 16 August 1869 (in this edition as M69-08-16), and notes thereto.
I have the pleasure to inform you, that such has been the case and that your request shall be complied with. But as there are many other scientific applicants, I fear it will take some time before the plants can be assorted, as my time at present is much occupied with other pressing matters
I have the honor to be
&c R. S.
