I found your amiable note. It will give the Trustees of the Public Library pleasure to continue to present copies of your Botanical works as heretofore, if you will be so obliging as to furnish them with numbers as they issue from the Press. About twentyfive of each publication would suffice.
2, May I suggest to you that it would be highly desirable now that the fruit season is at hand to get models made of some of our finest fruits with1. The true names.
2. Size.
3. Weight.
4. Characteristics.
5. date of ripening, and
6. Any other particulars where grown, by whom whether imported, grafted or budded, or what kind of stock, or seedling, soil aspect &c.
3. You are I suppose like all others in various Departments at present without funds.

The Parliament did not approve departmental budgets for 1870 until 31 May 1870 (Victoria. Votes and proceedings of the Legislative Assembly, 1970 session 1, vol. 1, p. 86).
— If you approved of the idea you might ask the Treasurer to imprest one hundred pounds. — The Trustees of the Public Library have done so to meet their urgent wants.
4. If it be not practicable to carry out this object, Photographs of certain fruits might be obtained for a small outlay.
