(Melb. bot. Garden)
I owe you still, dear Prof Decaisne, my best thanks for your obliging goodness in
sending me the fragment of Stylidium setaceum from Labillardière collection. The analysis
has demonstrated to me that De Candolle very correctly placed the plant next to Stylidium lineare, and that it has not immediate affinity
to Styl. spinulosum. I have doubts, whether this plant of Labillardières may not have
been gathered in Tasmania & like Acacia saligna be marked erroneously as from near
Cape Leeuwin.
To ascertain this, I have requested Mr Pemberton Walcott, who resides near the place,
where Labillardière collected in terra Leeuwin, to search over the locality well after
any Stylidia, existing there.
The result will gladly be communicated to you.
