Sir,
Referring to my letter to you under date of the 1st instant,
and to your reply thereto, of the same date,
I have to apprise you that I have decided to place the Botanic Garden at Melbourne
and the reserved Crown Lands contiguous thereto under the charge and supervision of
Mr. Ferguson.

You will have the goodness, therefore, to hand over to Mr Ferguson the control of
the Garden and lands referred to, retaining yourself the charge of the Museum and Class Ground for scientific purposes.
