Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 22nd May last,
stating that you have no seeds of the blue Gum or blackwood trees available for distribution,
but that you will be glad to supply some miscellaneous young plants of trees, if provided
with sketches of the ground prepared and protected.

See M to T. Higinbotham, 22 May 1869 (in this edition as 69-05-22a).
In reply, I beg to say that it has not been found possible to prepare any plan of
the proposed plantations; but that if you can supply the Department with 120 or 130
young plants of shrubs of any description for planting where some received from the
Botanic Gardens last year, have failed I shall feel obliged.
I have the honor to be
Sir
Your obedient servant
