My dear Dr Von Mueller,
Many thanks for the portion of the skin of the adult Casuarius & I will not fail to
select the less common birds you desire in exchange in part. I do not know myself
about the book but I have sent a memorandum to the Librarian
— I return the two letters about Mr Bracken and have taken note of his name for a
vacancy I expect may soon occur, but it would be absolutely necessary for application
to be made to the Chief Secretary who refuses to appoint, as a general rule, unless
from the list of persons reduced from the service without fault.
