Sir
I have the honor to solicit, that you will be pleased to sanction the expenditure
of one hundred and twenty pounds Sterling (£120) to secure that portion of the great
Sonderian collections of Museum plants, which most particularly now is needed for
the study of those Australian plants, which are to be elucidated in my next volumes.
This sum would be available out of the vote for purchase of plants and bona fide property
would be obtained for it. The former course for similar payments has been to transmit
the amount to the Agent General in London, through whom the sending from Hamburg via
London could be effected.
I have the honor to be,
Sir, your obedient servant
Ferd von Mueller.
The honorable Jam. Macph. Grant, M.P.
Minister for Crown Lands & Survey
