The content is included in a modified form in Papers and proceedings of the Royal Society of Tasmania for 1869 (1870), pp. 5-6. The letter is dated to April 1869 as the latest date that it could have been written to have been read at that meeting.

had been presented to the Society by the latter gentleman, who also took the opportunity of conveying his thanks for the honor done him by his election as a Corresponding Member of the Society.
