23/3/69.
It will afford me much pleasure, dear Mr Tulk, to respond to the request of the trustees
of the Library and Art Museum, to send my Knight insignia of the Orders of which I
am a member to the forth coming art exhibition,
if a ticket can be placed along with these decorations stating they they have been
exhibited by
special request.
1
The Art Treasures Exhibition, 'a vast variety of pictures, curiosities, and articles
of vertu, lent by the owners to the Trustees of the Public Library', opened on 29 March 1869
and closed in mid-year.
Should, what is not likely, an occasion arise for my using one or more of these insignia,
I must stipulate for the permission to remove such for a day.
It appears to me not necessary to bring these decorations until the Exhibition actually
shall be opened. If for any other orders-insignia a case will be provided by the trustees,
then mine might be provided in the same way. Otherwise I shall be placed under the
special necessity of having a case made. I enclose, as required, a list of those of
my decorations,
which at present are available for the exhibition.

With much regards
Ferd. von Mueller, M.D.
