You asked me several times to publish my intended monography of Eucalypts at an early period. I would gladly do so, as I have much material for such a purpose, but lithographic work is here so costly , that I can with my very slender departmental means (the vote for publication is reduced to ⅓ of its former extent) not think of the matter any more; and when I had to pay privately something like £60.– in preventing even Harveys magnificent work

from being returned to Europe, I cannot hope that any illustrations would be more appreciated. So, unless private fortune smiles on me yet, it is not possible to get the Eucalypts illustrated, as far as I can see, here , with local means. We are too young & have still too much to do with building our towns, villages, roads & bridges.
