Sir
I have the honor to inform you, that at a Meeting of the Trustees of the Royal Park
held yesterday, the present bailiff Mr G. Sprigg, tendered his resignation, he having accepted another
appointment.
The Trustees are anxious that Mr Sprigg's successor in the Secretaryship of the Acclimation
Society should also continue the function of Park Ranger to uphold the regulations,
which for the sake of order and propriety were issued by the Board of Land & Works.
The Trustees accordingly solicit, that you will be pleased to appoint Mr Eugene Lissignol to the Office of Park Ranger or Bailiff vice George Sprigg resigned.
1
See M to G. Sprigg, 27 October 1868 (in this edition as 68-10-27b). Sprigg had been appointed the Town Clerk of St Kilda.
2
M to J. Grant, 11 March 1869 again requested this appointment as otherwise Lissignol was powerless
to enforce the rules and regulations relevant to Royal Park. Lissignol was appointed
Bailiff on 15 March 1869 (Victoria Government gazette, 19 March 1869, p. 465).
I have the honor to be
Sir
Your very obedient servant
F. v M.
Hon. Secret. to the Trustees of the Royal
Park
The honorable J.M. Grant M.P.
President of the Board of Land & Works
