The enclosed notes, which I offer, dear Dr Hooker, may be of horticultural interest. Perhaps you would be so good to present them to the Horticultural Society, for publication in their journal.

B70.13.02, dated 10 October 1868, was read at the meeting of the Scientific Committee of the Royal Horticultural Society on 15 June 1869.
Altho' I have occasionally interchanged seeds with the Society, when Prof Lindley was its Secretary, I have never been as an ordinary member or otherwise been connected with it. Should the Society not continue its journal or these list be not acceptable to it, pray let them then be communicated to the Gardeners Chronicle or such other publication, as you may deem eligible for the purpose.
Your regardful
Ferd. von Mueller
I dare say you look on me as a poacher in your Tasmanian territory. I got now also from Kings Island and I have several other plants from that isle. At present a friend of mine is engaged there to form still further collections.
