I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of 2 copies of the 19 fasc. of Capt Beddomes work on Indian ferns, which the Chief Secretary has been pleased to send to the Library of this Institution.

The Government of Madras evidently enclosed a receipt form when items were sent to the Chief Secretary of Victoria, which were then sent to M with the items; see M to J. McCulloch, 15 January 1868, for a case when there was apparently no standard transmission letter to M from the Chief Secretary's Office, but the Madras receipt form was sent to him with the volumes.
