On 6 May 1868 Barlee minuted, 'Keep with former letter from Dr. M. till I return to office', probably referring to M to F. Barlee, 8 April 1868 (in this edition as 68-04-08a).

Honored and dear Sir.
I feel very much indebted for your goodness of sending me the case with plants from Mr Walcott. It came here in a good state and the contents will form here a very acceptable addition to the plants from W. A. contained in our state-herbarium.
It is very pleasing to me to learn, that several West Australians are interesting themselfes now for obtaining additional materials for my works. I hope I may live yet a few years to elucidate the flora of the country fully.
With regardful salutation your
Ferd von Mueller
