My dear Dr Mueller

1, By an oversight which ought not to have occurred the accompanying part, No 13 of the Ornithology of Australia

Diggles (1866-70).

was stamped with the Stamp of the Public Library before the address (on the outside to you) was observed. —

2, The Author enclosed it in a package containing several other numbers intended for the Library, and omitted to write a letter or send a message apprising the Librarian of the fact that the number in question was for you. —

3, As the writing on the outside is very Small it escaped observation until after the mischief was done. —

4, Be so good as to pardon this unpremeditated injury to your book, and say whether you wish to have an entry made in it explaining the presence of the Stamp.
