Returned with best thanks. I have not signed the receipt, thinking that Mr Undersecretary

On 13 December 1867, the Government of Madras sent two copies of Beddome (1866-68), fascicle 17, for the 'Colonial Secretary' of Victoria. These reached
the Chief Secretary's Office in Melbourne in mid-January 1868 and were forwarded to M, apparently without a standard transmission letter but enclosing the
form of receipt required by the Government of Madras. Moore annotated the file on 17 January: 'Forward receipt with thanks'. There were
other instances when the Madras receipt form was enclosed with the items and transmittal
letter; see, for example, M to J. Moore, 18 May 1868 (in this edition as 68-05-18b).
