Letter not found. The text given here is from a report of a meeting of the Council of the Otago Acclimatisation Society held on 13 February 1868, in Otago times (NZ), 14 February 1868, p. 4. The letter is dated to January 1868 as the last likely date that it could have been written to be reported at the meeting. Mathew Holmes is identified as the Chairman at the beginning of the report.
