Letter not found. The text given here is from a report of meeting of the Council of the Otago Acclimatisation Society held on 13 February 1868, in Otago times (NZ), 14 February, p. 4. The letter is dated to January 1868 as the last likely date that it could have been written to be reported at the meeting. The report continued: 'They had been put into Mr Beverly's hands, and would be afterwards distributed. He believed, from Dr Mueller's disposition to the Society, that many valuable things might be obtained.'.
[Mr Carrick reported that Dr Mueller had sent to the Society a case of trees, including the China tea-plant, the cinchona (quinine tree), and the cork tree.]
