I have an idea, dear Dr Hooker, that Eriophorum (any tall species) would thrive among the Junci and Melaleuca of my gardens Swamp. Should at any time a passenger come out, willing to water a good turf of such a plant in a calico-case on the voyage could you oblige me with a plant then? It would be highly interesting to have the plant in Australia.
Always your

The seeds were recorded in the Kew inwards book 1868-72 on 21 February 1868 (RBG Kew, Kewensia, p. 12).
I feel much pleased with the beautiful plate of Alsophila Rebeccae

I have the plant growing 12' high, but I failed to get Alsophila Robertsiana which is still higher, alive to Melbourne.
