Letter marked: ' See 6539 — herewith The […] is in the office but is held over from
want of "supplies" [illegible signature] 17/12'; and 'The Crown Agents to be instructed to pay from funds in hand E.S.S. 17/11/67'.
I was under the impression, dear Mr Verdon, that a remittance of £100, sanctioned
by Mr Grant, had been made to the Colonial Agent for the 4th vol. of the Australian
Flora.
Mr Bentham by this mail desires me to send the sum, as the printing was to take place
early in 1868. Very possibly the sum is ready for him to receive at the Colonial Agents
Office, but I think it best under the circumstances to trouble you for
authentic
information. Should you find, that the sum is not yet transmitted (all forms on my
part having been gone through), would you not be so kind then to arrange for the remittance
by this mail? I will then inform Mr Bentham accordingly.

Trusting you will excuse my intrusion I remain your very regardful
Ferd. Mueller
