Honorable & dear Sir.
I beg to acquaint you of my return from King Georges Sound this morning, greatly invigorated by the voyage & land journey, for which you afforded me so kindly an opportunity, and I shall not fail to wait on you.

M left for Albany, WA, on board the mail steamer Geelong on 28 September, arriving there after 4 October, (probably on 5 October; see Perth g azette and West Australian t imes , 18 October 1867, p. 3, col. c). He left for Melbourne on the same vessel on 9 November (Argus, 15 November 1867, p. 4).
I brought with me a large number of plants both for the Garden & the botanical Museum.
