At a committee meeting of the Otago Acclimatisation Society on 26 September 1867, a donation was reported: 'From Mr A Beverly some young transplanted Kauri &c to be sent to Melbourne or Geelong'. At a meeting on 24 October, 'The Hon Secretary reported that one case of plants received from Mr A Beverly had been sent to Mr Bunce Geelong, and the other to Dr Mueller Melbourne' (MS 378/A, Hocken Library).

Dear Sir,
I have the pleasure to advise that I have forwarded this day pr "Tarama" one case of native plants kindly presented to this Society by Mr Beverly which our Committee have instructed me to forward to you. All these plants have been growing in the open for some time & I trust will arrive in good order. I have put in the case a Kauri plant, which I lately received from Auckland.
I need scarcely say that our Society will be glad to receive donations either of plants or birds suitable for this climate.
I am
Dr Sir
Yours truly
A. Carrick
Hon. Sec.

Tarama arrived in Melbourne on 20 October (Argus, 21 October 1867, p. 4).
