[In a communication received by the Colonial Secretary from Dr. Mueller, Melbourne, that gentleman requests it to be made known he is anxious to receive dried and pressed specimens of plants from the neighborhood of the most remote sheep runs in this colony; even the most insignificant plants will be acceptable, and such can be readily sent by letter, or if any of our friends will take the trouble to make a collection and forward it to this office, it shall be forwarded.]

The item continues 'Dr. Mueller, is the gentleman who is now taking great trouble to make examination into several West Australian products for our information, and it would be but a grateful recognition of his kindness if we could forward his botanical pursuits.'
The part of M's essay on Australian vegetation (B67.13.02) dealing with WA had been republished by the Perth gazette and West Australian times (B67.09.02) a week before this item appeared. M would shortly visit WA but did not arrive there until early October.
